(Unreleased, from Bury the Cynics, September 2008) This is the only song that somewhat survived the theft of my laptop in NY, and by that I mean it was the only one I could remember (out of the demos I was working on at the time.) So to whoever has that laptop, you’re sitting on a gold mine! NOTE: laptop may be returned with no questions asked in return for a free Lovely Sparrows t-shirt. I will even pay shipping!
Department of Foreseeable Outcomes
(Unreleased, from Bury the Cynics, September 2008) This is the first song to be released from our forthcoming full length, Bury the Cynics. It’s the last song written for the record, and is a favorite amongst the band and those involved with it. I wrote it while I was stuck on another song. If you enjoy it, perhaps you want to sign up for our mailing list (I promise we won’t spam you with bible verses, or bad recipes) and we’ll occasionally contact you with updates.
(From our 2006 EP Pulling Up Floors, Pouring On (new) Paint) This is the “single” from our last EP. It’s been well noted by many music journalists that this was a break up record. Roger that.
(Live Daytrotter session, June 28th, 2007) We learned the harmony parts in the van on the way to this session. After we tracked we talked the pizza shop downstairs from Daytrotter into staying open late. They had an awesome jukebox full of 80’s new wave gold.
(Live on KVRX, October 17th, 2006) This is a live acoustic version of the first track on the forthcoming LP Bury the Cynics. It was recorded in the DJ booth late at night with our good friend Mars. The version that made it to the record is a bit more fleshed out than this one, but this is the version that won over our trusty manager.
The War Has Seen the Best of Me
(Demo, August 15th, 2006) This is a bare-bones demo, pretty lo-fi, just one room mic; none of the arrangements had been fleshed out yet. You can compare it to the EP version and see how it developed.
(Magnetic Fields cover, February 27th, 2007) We did this as a favor for our friends at KVRX here in Austin. The vocals are mixed pretty low, but I think the feel is good. This is basically the result of rehearsing for a few minutes before we went into the DJ booth.
