I recorded Take Care very quickly, in down time- between working on sparrows songs for the new record, just to clear my head. I’ve only listened to this song maybe 5 times ever. Probably not even that many. The Big Star version only once. I accidentally put it on the demos disc that I burned for Eric Power to work on ideas for videos for the new record. He called and asked if he could make a video for it. How could I say no?

So… believe it or not, we’re actually making progress on the new album! By the end of next week we’ll have 6 songs recorded. It’s shaping up to be 10-12 tracks, and will most likely be self-titled.
There’s a bit of mystery concerning the details of the release, the extras that will be included, the finer points, and what have you’s. But I will say this: Book!

Hey All, A lot going on right now. Several different projects that are all tied in to one another. I can’t say just how yet, but I will say that this picture relates to all three (3!) of them. I’ve worked with Derek in the past (he did our last album cover), and I’m a huge fan of his work. He’s finally put some original pieces up at www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=7404688 His work’s being put out by Fantagraphics now, so buy em while you can! I’ll have some more detailed news on this “um… ambitious project” up soon! Promise. -ShawnP.S. Here’s a little mini movie (w/soundtrack by the Lovely Sparrows) that Eric Power (Waking Life, Year of the Dog video) did for the Soofy Travel Project. http://vimeo.com/4521892

I was blowing off some steam after a long day in the studio and threw this together for a special person. The Lovely Sparrows are not really known for being overly happy, sappy, or light hearted, so it was kind of fun to borrow the sweeter sentiment from this song. And fair’s fair, M., you are totally welcome to a Sparrows song. Have at it!
Sideone:Trackone just posted it. It’s ultra lo-fi, but I think the spirit/sentiment is there. Hope you enjoy it. The new record is now officially in progress. We’re about 5-6 songs in right now, but have a bunch of tricks up our sleeves for this one… so stay posted. We are heading out on a short midwestern tour in a few weeks with fellow Sparrow Robert Ellis, in support of his new record. We’re excited to be doing another Daytrotter session while we’re out.

Okay, so we’re very thankful that we were mentioned on several of the year end “best of 2008″ lists… even if we are a little late in posting the links!
