We are very thankful for all the kind words pouring in. Here’s an excerpt from a review in the current issue of Harp Magazine (the one with Tom Waits on the cover):
“Top-notch, tastefully polished indie-pop might not be the first thing that springs to mind when you think of the hip oasis that is Austin; the Lovely Sparrows are working hard to change this. And if the harmonies (think Jose Gonzalez), rhythms, and thought-provoking lyrics of Pulling up Floors, Pouring on (New) Paint are any indication, they just may succeed. Lead Sparrow Shawn Jones pulls together a solid cast of colleagues to help flesh out his delicate. folky compositions and create the much-needed counterpoints (especially the boy-girl dynamic on many of the vocals) that give the album its wings. The five songs on this tasty little EP go by way too fast, leaving you wanting more.”

The kind words keep rolling in. Check out this great new review from Urban Pollution and read about the EP in this month’s issue of Paste magazine … and right here:
“The flowers will bloom without you.” So the lyrics go on one of the tracks from this EP, and it’s fitting imagery, as these shimmery pop songs evoke sunlight and all of the finer things of a lovely day spent outside. Most summery and refreshing of all, perhaps, are this Austin group’s lead singer, Shawn Jones, and his charismatic vocals.
